Birchbox Soho Store Honest Review & Giveaway!

Last weekend my girl squad (featured here) and I headed to the city for a much needed girls day out. We had a day full of eating, exploring, and of course, shopping! Today I am excited to share my experience at the Birchbox Soho store and to have my first giveaway on this blog! P.S. There’s only one rule to enter and it’ll give you an automatic entry into ALL future giveaways on my blog!

Products

The second I stepped foot inside Birchbox Soho I fell in love with the layout. The store itself isn’t large but by no means is it stuffy. While there is a limited selection of products, it somehow made the experience feel all the more personalized. With that said, if you are easily overwhelmed by stores like Sephora, Birchbox Soho might just be the perfect match for you. The products are split up according to their respective category (ex. Skincare.) As for brand selection, I saw Michael Todd, Smashbox, Laura Gellar, Stila, Bumble & bumble, and Living Proof among other brands. Three things I really enjoyed about the layout was the organization, the aesthetic, and that prices were clearly visible. Am I the only one who hates when prices aren’t listed?

Customer Service

The customer service at Birchbox Soho was great! Every employee that I encountered at the store seemed to genuinely enjoy their job. They offered their help several times without being pushy (muy importante) and were all smiles. When you purchase an item, whether big or small, they package it up very nicely for you  too. I called a couple of days after I had visited the store because I had a couple of questions about their salon services and the employee who answered was super kind and helpful. The employees also deserve bonus points for not looking at me funny when I pulled out my camera and took pictures (;!

Salon Services

Birchbox Soho has salon services on the lower level of the store. Hair and makeup services are available by appointment and walk-in are also accepted. Hair options include braids, waves, and updos for $30 each. There are 4 makeup options ranging from $30 to $85. The options are “Pop of Color” (focus on eyes or lips,) “Radiance Refresh” (face makeup,) “Full Makeup Application” (full face,) and “Makeup Master Lesson” (full face+tips.) There is way more information on their website so I will link it here for you if you are interested. Also, just incase you heard that they do manicures, they no longer offer nail services! Although I didn’t try their salon services this time around, I plan to try them in the future. I’m actually quite curious about it because I searched online and found little to no reviews and photos of clients. Let me know if you would like to see that because fun fact, I have never had my hair, makeup, or nails done by a professional.

Premade Boxes

There are premade boxes at the far end of the store directly next to the BYOB section. Each premade box has a theme and they vary in price. While I was there I only saw one box that was worth purchasing in my opinion. It included a beauty blender along with other travel sized products and was priced at $26. My friend Emily (featured in this post) gushed about the other products that came in the same box and of course we convinced her to buy it. Thats what friends are for (haha.)

Build Your Own Box

Behold, the box of all boxes, the box you built yourself, BYOB! I’d be lying if I said that my friends and I didn’t go to Birchbox for the BYOB section. Get ready because I’m about to break it down for you. The BYOB section is divided up into hair, body, makeup, fragrance, and skincare samples. You can pick one item from each section for $15 or any 5 samples for $25. The product selection was smaller than I imagined but it was still fun to pick out items. I was also informed that the products are constantly switched out so you can come back and create different boxes. The concept of BYOB is awesome because you can try out new products before actually purchasing the full size item.

Giveaway!!!

I’m very excited for the first giveaway on my blog! I handpicked the items for a box to giveaway to you guys! I went into this determined to make a box that was worth more than the price and *spoiler alert* I succeeded. I selected products from each category and I have listed them below along with the price that the sample would cost if purchased individually. Lets just take one moment to think about the fact that if you purchased the $25 box and chose 5 Stila Liquid Lipstick samples, you would essentially have a $60 box!

  • Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk 30 ml $4.20
  • Fekkai Technician Color Care Shampoo 2 fl oz. $5.00
  • Essential Elements Shower Gel 1.5 fl oz. $3.56
  • Comptoir Vanille Abricot 1.5 ml $1.80
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick .05 fl oz.  $12
    • Total: $26.56
